Yingli Solar seals major 1.25 GW deal in Saudi Arabia

The Saad 2 project is a pivotal element of the Saudi Public Investment Fund’s (PIF) commitment to achieving 70 percent of the country’s renewable energy target by 2030.

With a total planned capacity of 1.25 GW, Saad 2 will be developed by Saudi Arabia-based ACWA Power. The project’s engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) will be a collaborative effort between Huadong Engineering and SEPCOIII Electric Power Construction, affiliated with PowerChina.

Notably, this collaboration marks Yingli Solar’s second venture with ACWA Power and Huadong Engineering in the Middle East, following their involvement in the 575 MW Ibri 2 project in Oman.

Yin Xulong, Chairman of Yingli Solar, expressed confidence in the positive impact of this project, stating, “We believe that through the implementation of this project, Yingli will further collaborate with partners to drive renewable energy deployment in the Middle East, making a significant contribution to global energy transition.”

He added, “Yingli’s Panda N-type TOPCon technology will play an even more critical role in the future solar market, continuously expanding its share in the Middle East PV market by providing more efficient and reliable solar power solutions and contributing to global carbon neutrality efforts.”
