Trump Establishes National Energy Council

On February 14th local time, U.S. President Trump signed an executive order announcing the establishment of the National Energy Council, which will be involved in the licensing, production, distribution, regulation, and transportation of all forms of energy within the federal government. Some analysts say that the National Energy Council will develop strategies to achieve U.S. energy dominance through various channels.

On the same day, President Trump stated that the National Energy Council will formulate energy policies for the entire federal government and help mobilize the licensing, production, and distribution of oil, natural gas, electricity, and other resources. In addition, the National Energy Council will strengthen U.S. energy dominance by reducing procedures, enhancing private sector investment, and fostering innovation.

Trump also referred to the U.S.’s oil and natural gas resources as “liquid gold,” stating that they are clean energy sources and that the U.S. is fortunate to have these resources, which will be better utilized.
