On March 20th, Tongwei Solar’s Photovoltaic Technology Center announced that, following tests by the international authoritative certification body TÜV, Tongwei’s TNC-G12R modules achieved a front-side power of 682.8 watts (approximately 60 watts higher than the current mainstream production power of similar modules on the market) with a conversion efficiency of 25.28% for the standard size of 23821134mm. For the standard size of 2384*1303mm, Tongwei’s TNC-G12 modules reached a power of 778.5 watts (approximately 60 watts higher than the current mainstream production power of similar modules on the market) with a conversion efficiency of 25.06%.

This marks a new record for both the efficiency and power of TOPCon modules in the two mainstream formats.
It is reported that this record-breaking achievement was made possible by Tongwei’s photovoltaic technology R&D team through the application of technologies such as tubular PECVD poly deposition, Poly Tech, EPT passivation, and steel mesh printing, along with optimization of the module’s optical and electrical design.
Additionally, the high-throughput dense packing technology for modules was employed, successfully increasing the power of the TNC-G12R 66-cell module by over 19.3 watts and the efficiency by 0.72%. The TNC-G12 66-cell module saw a power increase of 15.1 watts and an efficiency improvement of 0.48%.
Relevant information indicates that Tongwei has made long-term plans in the TOPCon technology field, leading the development of the industry’s first G12 PECVD Poly cell pilot line. Tongwei was the first in the industry to promote large-size PECVD technology, filling a gap in the industry and achieving innovative breakthroughs and leadership in TOPCon cell manufacturing technology.
According to statistics from Infolink Consulting, the PECVD solution currently accounts for 56% of the market share in 852GW of solar cell production capacity. In 2023, PECVD technology featured on the cover article of the renowned scientific journal “Progress in Photovoltaics” (PIP) for both the year and a monthly issue. In 2024, Tongwei’s self-developed “High-Efficiency N-type TOPCon Solar Cell” was recognized as a “First Set of Major Technical Equipment Product in Sichuan Province,” marking a zero breakthrough for solar cells on the list of first sets of major technical equipment in Sichuan Province.
