Texas-Based FGM-Fabral Launches Fabral Solar to Enter PV Market

FGM-Fabral, a Texas-based manufacturer of metal framing materials, has announced the establishment of Fabral Solar, officially entering the rapidly growing photovoltaic (PV) market. Fabral Solar will supply high-end steel PV mounts, providing complete solutions for solar module installations.

According to its co-founder, John Cummings, Fabral Solar aims to become a one-stop supplier of solar mounts, leveraging the experience of its parent company FGM-Fabral in metal roofing systems and the resource advantages of its owner Flack Global Metals (FGM). It will collaborate directly with EPC contractors and PV mount manufacturers to establish a stable supply chain.

Fabral Solar will also offer customized Fabral steel products to meet the design and installation needs of various PV projects, introducing pre-assembled components and parts suitable for building rooftops, carports, canopies, and ground-mounted PV power stations.

Furthermore, the company plans to install PV systems on existing buildings and properties and explore new markets in commercial, residential, agricultural, and other sectors. Prior to FGM-Fabral’s entry into the PV industry, the U.S. government announced a 25% tariff on imported steel and aluminum products, effective March 12, 2025. Even before the new tariff was implemented, the U.S. PV industry had begun promoting domestic steel supply chain construction to reduce dependence on overseas supply chains.

Under this trend, several PV tracking mount companies have cooperated with local steel suppliers to comply with the tax incentive policies related to the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA), such as FTC Solar and Nextracker. Meanwhile, PV module manufacturer First Solar has partnered with Terrasmart to adopt its steel mounting solutions, ensuring that Series7TR1 modules form a fully domestically produced ground-mounted power station solution in the U.S. market. Recently, Origami Solar also established a steel PV frame factory in Arkansas, aiming to reduce overseas supply chain risks and provide reliable material support for local projects.
