China-based software product provider 35.com said it has signed an agreement to build a 5 GW heterojunction (HJT) solar cell facility in Meishan, a city in China’s southwestern Sichuan province.
According to the agreement, the project involves RMB 2.5 billion as total investment. The facility will be constructed in two phases—2 GW in phase one and 3 GW in phase two.
The company plans to set up Meishan Liansheng PV Technology Co., Ltd. in the city to execute the plan.
According to Reuters, 35.com is principally engaged in the provision of software products and information technology services. The company provides small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in China with software products and IT services, such as enterprise mailbox systems, network domain services, website construction, among others.
The company said that HJT products provide lower LCOE for PV applications. Investing in the manufacturing of HJT projects can improve the company’s core competitiveness and performance, while seizing the opportunity in the solar PV industry, said 35.com.
