Silicon prices rise while cell, module manufacturers face continued losses

The prices of silicons remain stable compared to that of last week. There is a slight mark-up on n-type silicon rod, as well as that of p-type. This might resulted from that the silicon market is relatively active this week and manufacturers are receiving more inquiries from the downstream.

Some fourteen companies were still under repair this week, and there were no major new production cuts. In August, silicon production is expected to be 140,000-150,000 tons, and inventories continue to decline, which is good to the price recovery, said insiders.

Solar wafer

The price for wafer remains stable for weeks with reasonable inventory. According to data from Solarbe Consulting, cell production is approximately 50.6GW, and some manufacturers have gradually recovered operation.

Solar cell

Solar cell prices continued to drop in this week and the price margin between n-type and p-type cells is further narrowed down due to weak demand and inventory pressure. Solar cell manufacturers will face the plight of continued losses, and cell prices will further be reduced in the short term.

Solar module

Module end is still facing the same challenge of price plummet. Though some of the domestic large-scale centralized projects have recently been launched, substantial progresses are hard to be seen. The overall market demand is barely recovered and is unlikely to pick up in the short term.
