Xinjiang-based silicon major producer Hoshine Silicon is about to start its layout on solar PV glass and aims to bring annual capacity to 3 million tons, according to the announcement recently released on the official website of Industry and Information Technology Department of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region.

The project, located in Ganquanpu Industrial Park, will start production in June next year, with ultra-thin and high transmittance photovoltaic glass for new energy equipment as the main product. The project will be implemented by the wholly-owned subsidiary of Hoshine Silicon.

The announcement reflects Hoshine’s ambition in further expanding its photovoltaic glass business apart from its original major silicon business, which will likely to bring huge fortune to the company.

According to the performance forecast of Hoshine Silicon in 2021, the net profit attributable to the shareholders of the listed company is expected to reach RMB 8.5-8.7 billion. The company believes that benefiting from the strong rebound growth of the downstream demand of the industry and the impact of industrial policies, industrial silicon and organosilicone, the main products, will usher in a strong boom cycle and achieved both production and sales during the year.

In 2021, the sealant project with an annual output of 200,000 tons was successfully put into operation, together with technological breakthroughs, which effectively improved the capacity utilization rate, and also brought a significant year-on-year increase in the output of main products during the year, said the company.
