Chinese solar module manufacturer Longi announced it has reached 25.47% efficiency with its gallium-doped p-type heterojunction silicon solar cells using the M6 (166-mm) wafer size. The record was confirmed by the Institute for Solar Energy Research in Hamelin (ISFH).

Longiā€™s R&D team has developed a p-type wafer processing solution for heterojunction cells and combined it with interface passivation technology to achieve a Voc of 747.6 mV for p-heterojunction cells. The processing of the low-cost p-heterojunction cell solution applied in this record has not yet been fully optimized and the company is convinced that this technology route still has great potential for further development.

In 2021, the company broke the record of photovoltaic cell conversion efficiency seven times. Among them, the conversion efficiency of n-type TOPCon, p-type TOPCon and n-type heterojunction cells were pushed up to 25.21%, 25.19% and 26.30% respectively.
