JA Solar to invest 3.4B on crystal pulling, wafering, module projects

JA Solar, a leading solar PV manufacturer, announced last Friday that the company is planning to invest 3.4 billion RMB on the expansion of its vertically integrated production capacity.

The projects include a 2.5 GW crystal pulling and wafering facility in Vietnam, a 1.3 GW high-efficiency solar cell facility in Ningjin, a county in China’s Hebei Province, a 10 GW module auxiliary material facility, and a 200 MW solar-plus-storage project in Tuquan, a county in Inner Mongolia.

Once the new wafer and cell facilities are put into operation, the company’s production capacity can be effectively improved to satisfy rising market demands for high-efficiency products, according to JA Solar.

The auxiliary material factory, upon completion, can partially meet the company’s demand as JA Solar expands its module output. It is said to be able to guarantee the stable supply of raw materials for the company.

The solar-plus-storage project in Tuquan is in line with JA Solar’s strategy to expand its solar pipeline and its Develop-Own-Transfer business model for solar PV power plants.
