According to Li, the COP 26 summit in Glasgow last year, countries had reached consensus on the strategic goal of tackling climate change by achieving a balance between anthropogenic emissions of greenhouse gases and those absorbed by nature by the middle of the century, or at the latest by the second half of the century. The COP27 in this year is to translate these ambitious goals into action.

It is an important responsibility of every solar enterprise, entrepreneur and all employees to provide low-carbon, environment-friendly and clean energy for the sustainable development of mankind, said Li.

By the end of September 2022, the cumulative shipment of the company’s products has reached 115 GW. These products have been used in solar power plants, which is equivalent to reducing the carbon dioxide emissions of the society by 145 million tons every year. “To assume social responsibility is an important mission and one of the important strategies of JA Solar, and we will continue to be committed to fulfilling the social responsibilities and building a harmonious and friendly social ecology with our partners,” said Yang.

According to Wen, In 2021, UNHCR released its first strategy for climate adaptation and environmental sustainability, which is committed to mitigating climate change and environmental degradation, the impact on forced displaced persons and host communities, protecting and restoring the natural environment of displaced persons’ settlements, improving the adaptability of refugees, and minimizing the adverse environmental footprint generated during humanitarian assistance.

She recognized Chinese enterprises’ technical expertise and innovative solutions in the field of renewable energy. “We look forward to cooperating with more Chinese enterprises such as JA Solar in the future to realize resource sharing and complementary advantages, and to provide more assistance and support to the countries and urban areas most affected by the climate crisis”, said Wen.

Sun elaborated on JA Solar’s global initiative on jointly building a green cycle, with their production base in Qujing, Yunnan Province as an example, which firstly implemented green production and achieved using green electricity of over 92%. The company is building solar power stations in more places around the world including India, China, Singapore, etc., and working with upstream and downstream partners to establish a zero carbon ecosystem.

In 2021, JA Solar provided high-quality modules for the solar power generation project of the United Nations Beijing Office in China, with a total scale of 85.6 kilowatts, expecting to generate power of 2.96 million kWh in 25 years, reducing carbon dioxide emissions by 77 tons annually, and providing about 80% of the electricity needed for the building. In August 2022, the company and the UNHCR also held a donation ceremony to present solar lamps to the displaced and provide light sources necessary for learning and living, introduced by Sun.

Cao Yu, the editor in chief of industry media representative Solarbe also added to the whole session by focusing on the renewable and artificial intelligence technologies to tackle climate change.

Cao said that addressing climate change is a systematic project. In addition to emission reduction, we should also consider economic growth and how to achieve a perfect unity between the current material needs of mankind and long-term sustainable development. He believed that realizing economic growth and environmental protection can be achieved at the same time by focusing on the development of new energy such as solar and artificial intelligence technology, which can also promote a new industrial revolution.

“In the past few years, we have seen that China has achieved terrific economic benefits while promoting the process of carbon neutrality. We also see that the leading enterprises represented by JA Solar have established a very powerful intelligent manufacturing production line, which we believe could be replicated to all regions and countries in the world in the future, so that intelligent manufacturing and new energy can flourish everywhere, and better benefit mankind,” Cao added.
