According to the latest data released by the Federal Network Agency (Bundesnetzagentur), Germany added 960 MW of solar photovoltaic capacity in September, a slight increase from 906 MW in August (previously reported as 790 MW and now updated). However, this marks the second consecutive month in which the country’s monthly installations fell below the 1 GW threshold. The total capacity for the first nine months of 2024 exceeded 11.37 GW, up from 10.47 GW during the same period last year.
Of the new installations in September, ground-mounted solar contributed 412.7 MW, while rooftop distributed systems accounted for 549.8 MW.
As of the end of September 2024, Germany’s cumulative installed solar photovoltaic capacity reached 94.29 GW, with onshore wind capacity at 62.5 GW, offshore wind capacity at 9.21 GW, and biomass capacity at 9.06 GW.
