Germany’s Federal Network Agency (Bundesnetzagentur) has awarded 317MW of capacity, primarily for rooftop solar projects, in its latest solar auction held in February.

Compared to the previous auction round, bid prices have increased, with a weighted average winning bid of €.0.091 ($0.098)/kWh, up from €0.0904/kWh in previous round. The lowest winning bid was €0.079($0.085)/kWh, while the highest was €0.0969($0.10)/kWh, still below the cap of €0.104 ($0.11)/kWh.
The solar projects awarded in this auction are mainly located in the following federal states:
North Rhine-Westphalia: 78MW
Lower Saxony: 49MW
Saxony-Anhalt: 35MW
Bavaria: 33MW
The next auction for rooftop solar and noise barrier solar projects will be held on June 1, 2025.
The Federal Network Agency has set price caps for the 2025 solar auctions at €0.104/kWh for rooftop solar projects, €0.068 ($0.073)/kWh for ground−mounted solar projects, and €0.09($0.097)/kWh for innovative solar projects.
