CARBON Launches Crowdfunding for French Factory

French photovoltaic manufacturing startup CARBON has recently announced the launch of a new round of crowdfunding on the Enerfip platform, aiming to raise at least ā‚¬1 million (1.1million)anduptoā‚¬2.5million(2.7 million) to support the construction of a photovoltaic manufacturing factory in France.

The funds raised through this crowdfunding will be used for a module factory named CARBON ONE, located in the Aix-Marseille metropolitan area, with a planned production capacity of 500MW and scheduled to start operations in mid-2026.

The ā‚¬2.5 million in bond funding from this round will be allocated to TELI (a company established specifically for CARBON’s financing) through the Enerfip platform. TELI has already invested over ā‚¬10 million in CARBON, with the majority of the funds coming from shareholder LibreSoleil.

In addition to LibreSoleil, CARBON has also secured investments from numerous independent operators and consulting firms, including CVEGroup, IEL, Irisolaris, LangaInternational, Provence Eco Energie, SĆ©pale, Silversun, Synapsun, Technique Solaire, Tenergie, Terre et Lac, and Wewise. CARBON states that it is still seeking to onboard more investors.

The company said, “Through this round of financing, every investor will participate in the revival of the French photovoltaic industry, supporting local, independent, and sustainable module manufacturing.”

The crowdfunding campaign will run from April 2nd to 20th, 2025, and investors can participate on the Enerfip website.

CARBON previously announced plans to acquire Photowatt, a photovoltaic manufacturing subsidiary of the EDF Group, and utilize its factory in Bourgoin-Jallieu to establish a 500MW module production base.

CARBON’s long-term goal is to establish 3.5GW of module capacity and 5GW of cell capacity in Fos-sur-Mer by the end of 2025, with full production expected to commence in 2026.
