Canadian Solar, a leading solar module manufacturer, has recently signed an agreement with China Huaneng Group to build a 3 GW high-efficiency module facility and a ground-mounted solar power plant with 0.5 GW installed capacity in Pingshan County, Hebei Province.
A total of 3.5 billion yuan (US$550.9 million) is injected in the project that is expected to contribute over 200 million yuan (US$31.4 million) of taxes.
The facility, covering a total area of about 0.1 km2, will be constructed in three phases.
The solar farm, upon completion, will span 10 km2 of land. The project is expected to reduce 600,000 tons of carbon emissions and 20,000 tons of sulfur dioxide emissions, contributing to the green development of the local area.
