On March 26, Lu Chuan, Chairman and President of Astronergy, met with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan in Ankara, the capital of Turkey. Both parties reached an agreement on Astronergy’s investment in building a solar cell factory in Turkey.

It is reported that the construction of this factory by Astronergy is an integral part of Turkey’s “High Technology Incentive Program (HIT-30)”. Launched by the Turkish government in July 2024, the program aims to attract international investments in electric vehicles, semiconductors, batteries, and renewable energy, with a target total investment of USD 30 billion. Previously, BYD announced a USD 1 billion investment to build an electric vehicle factory in Turkey, while Astronergy will become the country’s only 100% foreign-owned solar cell manufacturer.
According to the agreement, Astronergy will establish advanced TOPCon battery production lines and plans to export 80% of its production capacity. Astronergy has already built a PV module factory in Turkey. Leveraging its global production experience, the new factory will construct a complete production chain covering cell and module manufacturing, thereby strengthening Turkey’s industrial competitiveness in the renewable energy sector and driving the development of related supporting industries.

In addition, regarding talent cultivation, the project is expected to create a large number of high-tech jobs in Turkey. Through cooperation with local universities and research institutions, it will cultivate professionals in the new energy field and utilize local talent to promote the research and application of innovative solutions, achieving the international output of PV technology. This dual investment model of “technology + talent” not only ensures the sustainable development of the project but also reserves and cultivates more overseas talent for Astronergy.
President Erdoğan highly recognized Astronergy’s investment and emphasized that the project will help Turkey achieve its green energy transition goals. The Minister of Industry and Technology of Turkey and his delegation also attended the meeting, where both parties had in-depth exchanges on investment details, technical cooperation, and future development plans.
Lu Chuan stated during the talks that Turkey is an important hub connecting the European and Asian markets, and he is honored to reach this strategic cooperation with the Turkish government. Astronergy will fully leverage its technological advantages and rich experience in the global PV market to help Turkey build a regional PV manufacturing and R&D center. It also hopes to provide a new example of international cooperation under the “Belt and Road” framework.
