Astronergy’s manufacturing base in Yancheng, Jiangsu province of China, after undergoing a two-month upgradation and verification process, has obtained the world’s first PV industry zero-carbon factory certification from TÜV Rheinland.
On July 17, Yancheng Base was awarded the Zero Carbon Factory (Type 1) Certificate, receiving a three-star rating based on TÜV Rheinland’s verification. This recognition is endorsed by the China Energy Conservation Association.
To further expand the number of zero-carbon factories, Astronergy forged a partnership with TÜV Rheinland in June.
TÜV Rheinland is one of the participating entities in the development of the global standard and evaluation rules for zero-carbon factory construction – the ‘Evaluation Specification of Zero-carbon Factory’ (T/CECA-G 0171-2022). It is also among the first batch of institutions providing zero-carbon factory evaluation and certification services.
Following these guidelines and with the support of TÜV Rheinland, Astronergy plans to have at least seven additional factories achieve comprehensive zero carbon emissions performance by 2030.
This will be accomplished through various technical measures such as energy conservation, emission reduction, and carbon elimination throughout the factory planning, design, construction, management, and manufacturing processes.
Astronergy, an intelligent manufacturing enterprise under the CHINT Group, focuses on the production of photovoltaic cells and modules. Established in 2006, it was one of the pioneering private companies in China to venture into the photovoltaic sector. The company has gained recognition as a leader in n-type TOPCon PV modules.
