US tech giant Apple has announced the launch of its second China Clean Energy Fund, committing up to RMB 720 million (approximately USD 99 million) to add about 550,000 megawatt-hours of wind and solar power generation to China’s grid annually.

Phase One Fund Completed, 1GW of Wind and Solar Projects Built
The fund is part of Apple’s goal to achieve 100% renewable energy in its supply chain by 2030 and continues the model of the first China Clean Energy Fund launched in 2018. Through this platform, Apple encourages its suppliers to invest in renewable energy projects and achieve 100% renewable energy use in the production of Apple products.
The first phase of the clean energy fund has exceeded its targets, with over 1GW of new wind and solar projects built across 14 provinces in China. Currently, about two-thirds of Apple’s production in China is powered by renewable energy, with over 100 suppliers participating in the program.
Phase Two Fund Launched to Support New Project Development
Apple has committed to investing up to RMB 720 million (approximately USD 99 million) in its new fund, which will support renewable energy projects in the early stages of development, helping to upgrade green manufacturing in Apple’s supply chain.
Jeff Williams, Apple’s Chief Operating Officer, said, “Our suppliers are driving world-class innovation in smart and green manufacturing. The launch of the second China Clean Energy Fund will deepen our collaboration with Chinese suppliers, driving innovation, creating opportunities, and contributing to the sustainable development of our planet.”
Apple Expands Clean Energy Footprint Globally
Previously, Apple announced plans to push forward large-scale wind and solar projects in Europe, ensuring that its global operations are powered entirely by 100% clean energy.
