On September 18, cell enterprises have received price increase notice from Zhonghuan, a silicon wafer producer, regarding G1, M6 and G12 (170 μm) wafers.
Compared to the prices on August 28, wafers of all sizes have witnessed a price increase of 0.16 yuan/piece. The price of G1 wafer rose to 5.18 yuan/piece, up by 3.19%. The price of M6 and G12 wafers rose by 3.1% and 1.96% respectively to 5.28 yuan/piece and 8.33 yuan/piece.
Based on 22.8% cell efficiency, the production cost of G1, M6 and G12 cells will rise by 0.028 yuan/W, 0.026 yuan/W and 0.016 yuan/W after the price raise.
The low operating rate of many manufacturers and rising cost of auxiliary materials may result in another wave of price raise of solar modules.
