On July 21, the Symposium on Advanced Photovoltaic Technologies and Trends was held in Beijing. Cao Bo, Executive Vice President of Trina Solar, said in his speech that almost all module manufacturers have launched 600W+ products during this year’s SNEC exhibition in Shanghai.

In the first half of this year, many state-owned enterprises have particularly procured high-power modules. This proves the consensus in the industry to use high-power modules to reduce LCOE.
Cao Bo pointed out that since its establishment in July 2020, the 600W+ Photovoltaic Open Innovation Ecological Alliance have been expanded from 39 members to 87 members. It covers leading enterprises in the entire industrial chain, including wafer, cell, module, tracker, inverter, material and equipment manufacturers, EPCs and testing and certification institutions. The Alliance, interconnecting upstream and downstream enterprises, have lead the photovoltaic industry into the era of 600W+ and established a brand new pattern that brings win-win outcome.
The carbon peak and carbon neutrality goals have brought the photovoltaic industry unprecedented opportunities. The power and efficiency of wafer, cell and module have seen remarkable breakthroughs in 2021. During the SNEC trade show, almost all the module manufacturers have launched 600W+ products. Trina Solar has even released a module with power of over 700W. It is evident that ultra-high power has already become an unstoppable trend.
Meanwhile, silicon, wafer, cell, glass, backsheet, tracker, junction box, connector, etc. have all adjusted to improve the power of modules, which all contribute to lower BOS costs and LCOE.
Ultra-high power modules have already been used in rooftop projects. Cao Bo hopes that enterprises will continue to innovate and give full play to their advantages to promote the healthy and sustainable development of the photovoltaic industry.
