Siemens and CATL further cooperation in clean energy

On Tuesday, Dr. Xiao Song, Chairman, President and CEO of Siemens China paid a special visit to CATL to meet with Dr. Zeng Yuqun, Chairman of CATL. The companies exchanged views on how to make the most of their respective advantages in production digitization, energy storage, green energy management and digital talent training, etc. to help CATL improve production efficiency and global competitiveness.

As a pioneer in embracing clean energy and practicing low-carbon development, Siemens had become the world’s first large company committed to achieving carbon neutrality by 2030 long before the signing of the Paris Agreement. By then, Siemens will achieve 100% use of electric vehicles, only own or lease buildings with net zero emissions, and use 100% renewable energy.

The company that shares the same vision of sustainable development is China’s leading new energy company: CATL. The goal of CATL is to replace the traditional fossil fuel-based fixed and mobile energy systems with high-efficiency power systems of advanced batteries and renewable energy such as wind, solar and hydro-power. For this reason, CATL continues to innovate in material system, system structure, extreme manufacturing and business model.

In order to support the innovation of CATL, Siemens automation equipment has been successfully applied to CATL’s battery production line to ensure its efficient, safe and stable operation. In addition, Siemens digital simulation software has helped CATL conduct battery pack thermal management and production process design, greatly reducing the R&D time and significantly improving production efficiency.

Dr. Zeng Yuqun of CATL said, “Siemens is a leader in Germany’s Industry 4.0 and a pioneer of sustainable development. CATL is determined to make outstanding contributions to the development of new energy, so we need like-minded partners like Siemens.”

He added that CATL hoped to further the cooperation with Siemens by sharing resources and complementing each other’s advantages.

Dr. Song Xiao said, “Siemens and CATL have laid a solid foundation for cooperation in the fields of production automation and digitization. In the future, we will continue to develop leading digital capabilities, innovative technology and global resources to empower CATL to enhance its global influence.”
