SPIC completes world’s first ultra high altitude solar project

Chinese key state-owned enterprise State Power Investment Corporation (SPIC) recently completes the key clean energy development project in Xiangcheng County, the country’s southwest Sichuan Province.

The demonstration project, with a total installed capacity of 400 MW, is expected to be put into operation by the end of September next year. The average altitude of the location is 4,000 meters.

Ultra high altitude and mountainous climate have an impact on the operation efficiency of photovoltaic equipment, equipment insulation performance and thermal insulation performance of energy storage equipment.

The implementation of the project will fill the gap of China’s photovoltaic demonstration base in ultra-high altitude and mid latitude areas, and provide reference for photovoltaic construction in Sichuan Tibet Plateau and similar scene areas throughout the country.
