Since 2020, JinkoSolar has verified the power generation gain of n-type TOPCon modules in different environments by sharing data with customers or building pilot projects. Taking Australian 1.5 MW industrial and commercial rooftop project as an example, the company mainly studied and compared the power generation gain of n-type and p-type bifacial modules installed on white paint steel structure roof.

The project is located in Queensland, northeast Australia, where the climate is both humid and dry. Applied with Growatt 80 KW inverters, it compares the power generation gain based on 163mm 60-pcs n-type and p-type modules. The total capacity of the project is 1.5 MW. All modules are installed more than one meter above the steel structure roof, with an inclination angle of 15 degrees.

Figure 2 shows the power generation of two modules from January to December of 2020: compared with p-type bifacial modules, the overall power generation of n-type modules is increased by 5%.
Thanks to the better temperature coefficient and irradiation performance of n-type modules, in summer, the power generation of n-type modules is 5.5% higher than that of perc bifacial modules, while in winter, it is 4.3% higher than that of p-type. The monthly data show a stable growth of power generation, while the place suffered prolonged rainy days in December 2020, with power generation gain of modules lower than the normal value, but the power generation of n-type modules is still 5.3% higher than that of p-type modules.

The n-type module has higher bifaciality and lower temperature coefficient, so the power generation gain can achieve a better result in summer. Since the production capacity of n-type bifacial module continues to expand, with advantageous cost, it will soon become the mainstream product in the Australian photovoltaic market.
