EVA photovoltaic material achieves domestic technological breakthrough

Sierbang Petrochemical, subsidiary of China-based innovative hi-tech enterprise Shenghong Group, recently has achieved a major breakthrough in the improvement of key indicators such as fish eyes and melt index on the EVA photovoltaic material through its special technology.

The achievement, which has reached the international advanced level, has been certified by the appraisal of scientific and technological achievements of China Petroleum and Chemical Industry Federation. Its overall performance and quality can fully replace imported products and effectively break the foreign monopoly, greatly meeting the needs of the downstream market.

At present, the company’s annual production capacity of EVA has reached 300,000 tons, accounting for 31% of the total domestic production capacity, of which the production capacity of photovoltaic grade EVA exceeds 200,000 tons, accounting for 28.6% of the global production capacity. The average annual compound growth rate is expected to reach 28% in the next three years.

There are only a few enterprises with photovoltaic grade EVA mass production capacity in China, thus about 70% of it were imported. While foreign monopoly causes domestic manufacturers to bear high raw material costs, they are also controlled by others in terms of delivery cycle.

Shenghong Group takes the market demand as the starting point, focuses on national strategic emerging industries such as new energy and new materials, achieves core technology breakthrough, independently develops photovoltaic grade EVA resin, and overcomes the key technological obstacles of China’s photovoltaic industry.
