On June 15th, China Construction Bank (CCB) held a cross-border meeting on photovoltaic power generation in Auckland, the largest city of New Zealand. Enterprises attending the meeting are optimistic about the prospects of cooperation between the two countries on solar PV.
Altogether 36 local enterprises in New Zealand were invited to the meeting. The CCB head office, CCB Beijing branch and leading solar PV enterprises in China attended the meeting remotely.
Huang Yuefeng, Economic and Commercial Counselor of the Chinese Embassy in New Zealand, attended the meeting through video call. He said that the pandemic highlighted the strong and resilient trade cooperation between the two countries. China is still the largest trading partner of New Zealand. The China-New Zealand Free Trade Agreement Upgrade Protocol sent a positive signal to the world that the two countries firmly support free trade.
Hu Bofei, deputy general manager of International Business Department of CCB head office, expressed CCB’s support on China-New Zealand cooperation, especially in carbon neutrality and clean energy. The meeting aims to take advantage of the local customer resources and financial service of CCB New Zealand branch to assist the cooperation between Chinese and New Zealand PV enterprises.
NZ $20 million worth of agreement was signed on an online signing ceremony held on the meeting.
The CEO of an energy consulting enterprise in New Zealand said that solar PV has a huge potential in New Zealand. The meeting can not only reduce costs by connecting enterprises with suppliers, but also provide a one-stop solution for enterprises to get loans, funds and insurance.
