Aiko Solar to inject 3.5B to N-type high-efficiency cells, with expected efficiency of 25.5%

Chinese PV solar cell manufacturer Aiko Solar recently issued its semi-annual report, saying that the company plans to raise RMB 3.5 billion yuan to invest in the construction of 6.5 GW new generation n-type cell in Zhuhai, south China’s Guangdong Province and 2 GW in Yiwu, Zhejiang Province, east of the country.

According to statistics, Aiko Solar’s mass production efficiency of PERC cell has reached an average of 23.3%, far exceeding the industry average level (22.8%), and the market share has increased year by year.

The company has established solid supply cooperation with many leading solar module enterprises in the world, continuously led the transformation of mass production technology of solar cells through continuous technological innovation, and launched new cell products with higher efficiency and more cost performance. Meanwhile, research centers and high-level laboratories covering process technology, equipment technology and intelligent manufacturing technology have been established in Yiwu, Zhejiang and Freiburg, Germany to carry out theoretical innovation, technological innovation and engineering innovation research of cell technology in the future.

In terms of production, the company has built advanced large-scale solar cell production and manufacturing bases in Foshan, Yiwu and Tianjin, with leading capacity in the world. Meanwhile, in the first half of this year, in order to promote the implementation of new n-type cell technology, the company issued a plan for non-public offering of a shares, and plans to raise RMB 3.5 billion yuan to invest in the construction of 6.5 GW new generation n-type cell in Zhuhai and 2 GW in Yiwu. It is reported that the two projects adopt the new generation n-type ABC cell technology with completely independent intellectual property rights, and the average conversion efficiency of the mass production is expected to reach 25.5%.

In the first half of 2021, the company spent over RMB 259 million yuan on R&D, with a year-on-year increase of 85.16%. It also carried out continuous and in-depth research on new cell technologies such as IBC, heterojunction, TOPCon, HBC and tandem cells, and made breakthroughs in various technical routes, especially in the new ABC cell.
