Ant Group, Hellobike, and CATL to Create New Ecosystem for Green and Smart Mobility

On April 10th, Ant Group, Hellobike, and Contemporary Amperex Technology (CATL) officially signed a strategic cooperation agreement in Hangzhou. The three parties will engage in in-depth collaboration around green and smart mobility, digital technology, green operations, and investment, jointly driving the intelligent upgrading of the new energy industry. This collaboration integrates Ant Group’s digital technology capabilities, Hellobike’s shared mobility ecosystem, and CATL’s power battery technology, aiming to build a new energy mobility solution that covers an integrated “vehicle-battery-cloud” system. Over the next three years, more than RMB 5 billion is expected to be invested in technological research and development and scenario implementation.

Under the agreement, Ant Group will provide blockchain, AI computing power, and credit system support to optimize user carbon footprint tracking and mobility data management. Hellobike will introduce CATL’s latest sodium-ion battery and battery-swap technologies to enhance the energy efficiency of its shared two-wheeler and ride-sharing services. CATL will leverage Ant’s IoT platform to optimize battery life-cycle management and establish an efficient recycling network. The jointly developed intelligent system is expected to improve shared bicycle operation and maintenance efficiency by 30% and extend battery cycle life by 20%, further reducing industry operating costs.

It is estimated that this collaboration will reduce carbon emissions by approximately 150,000 tons annually, equivalent to the carbon sequestration of 15,000 hectares of new forests. Additionally, the three parties have innovatively launched a “carbon credit bank” mechanism that allows users to accumulate digital rights through green mobility behaviors, potentially enhancing user stickiness and promoting the adoption of low-carbon lifestyles. This model may serve as an important reference for future smart city mobility ecosystems.

This strategic alliance not only strengthens the advantages of the three parties in their respective fields but may also spawn new industrial growth points. The first batch of cooperation results is planned to be launched in the third quarter in 20 cities, including Shanghai and Chengdu, featuring 500 intelligent battery-swap cabinets and 100,000 shared electric vehicles equipped with the latest CTP3.0 batteries. Analysts point out that this cross-industry collaboration marks a shift from single-point breakthroughs to ecosystem synergy in new energy mobility, potentially opening up a trillion-yuan market space for the industry.
