Recently, GroupSurya, a solar PV company headquartered in Odisha, India, announced plans to build a 1.2GW solar cell and module manufacturing factory in Sasaram, Bihar, utilizing the current mainstream TOPCon solar technology.
The project, with an investment of 10 billion Indian rupees (approximately $116.42 million), has officially kicked off through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed with the Bihar government. According to the plan, the Sasaram factory will be commissioned in phases, and its solar cells and modules will be supplied not only to the Indian domestic market but also exported to international markets.
Surya International, a subsidiary of GroupSurya, recently announced an investment of 800 million Indian rupees (approximately $9.8 million) to build a 500MW solar module manufacturing factory in Odisha. Additionally, the company plans to expand its existing 100MW module manufacturing capacity to 500MW. According to MercomIndiaResearch, the group also plans to raise funds through an Initial Public Offering (IPO) to further support its expansion plans.
GroupSurya is one of several companies recently announcing solar PV manufacturing plans. Recently, Pennar Industries and Zetwerk Manufacturing also announced a joint venture for solar manufacturing cooperation.
