Indian PV module brand Waaree has announced that its manufacturing factory in Burke County, Texas, USA, has commenced trial production of solar panels.
Waaree, India’s largest solar panel manufacturer, first announced the construction of its U.S. factory last year. The company now expects to commission its “Phase 1” manufacturing capacity of 1.6 GW in the coming months.
Commenting on the milestone, Sunil Rathi, President of Waaree Solar Americas, said, “This milestone marks the beginning of our ambitious plan for further expansion in the U.S., reinforcing our commitment to building a resilient domestic supply chain, supporting U.S. energy security, and strengthening Indo-U.S. trade and energy partnerships.”
Waaree aims to produce 3 GW of modules annually at the 546,000 square foot factory located outside Houston. The company initially announced a USD $1 billion investment in the factory, which also includes solar cell manufacturing. However, no further updates on its manufacturing plans have been provided.
