Multiple solar panel explosions reported in Lebanon

According to CCTV News, following the pager explosions across Lebanon on the 17th, multiple explosions involving communication devices occurred again on the afternoon of September 18, local time. Reports from CCTV on the afternoon of the 18th indicated that several explosions took place in Beirut, Lebanon’s capital, as well as in the southeastern town of Marjayoun and the eastern Bekaa Valley. The affected equipment included pagers, walkie-talkies, and wireless communication devices.

Xinhua News reported that Lebanon’s Minister of Public Health, Firas Abiad, stated in a press conference on the 19th that the explosions on the 17th and 18th had resulted in 37 deaths and 2,931 injuries. The latest data reveals that the explosions on the 17th caused 12 deaths and 2,323 injuries, while the incidents on the 18th led to 25 deaths and 608 injuries.

On the 19th, Lebanon’s Civil Aviation Authority issued a notice requiring all airlines operating at Beirut’s Rafic Hariri International Airport to prohibit the transportation of pagers or walkie-talkie devices on board aircraft.

Additionally, foreign media reported that while the mysterious explosions involving pagers and walkie-talkies occurred, two solar panel explosions also took place at Hezbollah strongholds on Wednesday.

Although no fatalities have been reported, Lebanon’s National News Agency (NNA) confirmed that a girl in the southern town of Marwaheen was injured when her home’s solar power system exploded. News reports indicate that photos of explosions involving solar panels, fingerprint readers, and other equipment have been circulating on Lebanese social media.
