Reliance Industries spend $4 million on Chinese solar module manufacturing equipment

China-based equipment manufacturer J.S. Machine announced last week it will supply solar module production line equipment worth USD 4.178 million to Reliance Industries’ clean energy arm, Reliance New Solar Energy Ltd.

The equipment will be supplied by the company’s wholly-owned subsidiary Suzhou Shengcheng Solar Equipment Co., Ltd.

The buyer Reliance Industries is one of the most profitable companies in India, with diverse businesses including energy, finance, telecommunications, petrochemicals, etc. The company is ranked 100th on the Fortune Global 500 list of the world’s biggest corporations.

Previously in April 2022, Reliance Industries purchased 4.8 GW heterojunction (HJT) solar cell production lines from Suzhou Maxwell Technologies.

J.S. Machine the supplier was founded in 1957. It has been dedicated to the production of packaging machinery for decades and was listed in 1998. In 2010, the company established Shengcheng Solar Equipment to start manufacturing smart solar manufacturing machines.

Over the past decade, Shengcheng Solar Equipment has become a leader and major supplier of solar PV manufacturing equipment. It has also made a breakthrough in the manufacturing equipment for next-generation solar cell technologies like perovskite, TOPCon, and HJT.

By June 30, 2022, J.S. Machine has bagged RMB 4.16 billion in solar equipment orders, up 37.61%.
