The manufacturing base is expected to be commissioned at the end of 2023.

As a major polysilicon and solar cell manufacturer, Tongwei Group said that expanding module production capacity could improve the company’s the competitiveness, while safeguarding the steady development of its solar PV business.

Solarbe noticed that this is the second module manufacturing project Tongwei has announced in the recent three months.

On September 22, the company signed an agreement to build a 25 GW high efficiency module fab in Yancheng city. The fab is scheduled to be constructed in 24 months.

Tongwei’s module production capacity in the first half of 2022 was 6 GW. When the two factories in Yancheng and Nantong reach full operation, the company will be capable of producing 56 GW of modules annually.

As a Tier 1 PV module manufacturer listed by Bloomberg NEF, Tongwei has secured multiple module supply orders.

As Tongwei’s presence in solar module market becomes more prominent, market competition could become intensified, altering global solar module market structures in the world.
