JinkoSolar achieves 25% efficiency on commercial TOPCon solar cell

JinkoSolar announced on Monday it has achieved high-yield production of n-type TOPCon solar cells with 25% conversion efficiency.

JinkoSolar announced on Monday it has achieved high-yield production of n-type TOPCon solar cells with 25% conversion efficiency.

When installed on the same area, JinkoSolar’s Tiger Neo TOPCon module series are said to increase 3% to 6% of installed capacity compared to PERC modules. Under the same installed capacity, Tiger Neo modules could generate 3% to 5% more electricity. This means 6% to 10% more power generated on the same area of land compared to PERC modules.

Higher bifaciality, better temperature coefficient and minimal degradation are the keys to Tiger Neo’s popularity among global customers, said JinkoSolar in its statement. It is believed to become the company’s greatest growth driver of revenue and profits this year.

Qian Jing, Vice President of JinkoSolar, said that, “JinkoSolar is the first company in the world to have reached 25% efficiency, 85% bifaciality and -0.29% temperature coefficient for n-type solar cells, while establishing over 10 GW production capacity for TOPCon.”

She added that the power output of 72 cell n-type modules could reach 590W.

JinkoSolar said in its third quarter results that the company has started the mass production of n-type TOPCon solar cells with over 25% conversion efficiency. Modules equipped with the latest cells will be delivered at the end of 2022 or at the start of 2023.

The world’s solar PV industry is moving towards n-type technology, which is demonstrated by the increasing market share of high-efficiency products.

In the first three quarters of 2022, JinkoSolar has shipped about 28.5 GW of solar modules globally, up 91.5% year-on-year. The company said that n-type modules will take over half of the total shipments in 2023.
