Last Friday, Trina Solar kicked off the construction of its 8 GW TOPCon solar cell project in Suqian, Jiangsu province. The project is expected to be put into operation in the second half of 2022.
Compared to PERC cells, n-type TOPCon cell has 1-2% higher conversion efficiency and 3.7% more power output in the whole life cycle. Its excellent performance has been widely acknowledged in Europe, North America and other markets.
Trina Solar started the research and development of TOPCon solar cells in 2015. After six years of continued efforts, the company has brought the maximum efficiency of its 210*210mm high-efficiency i-TOPCon solar cell to 25.5% in March this year. It has broken the world record for large-size commercialized n-type mono TOPCon solar cells.
With high efficiency, low voltage, high string power and other advantages combined, Trina Solar’s TOPCon cells are believed to be able to effectively reduce BOS costs and the LCOE, while improving the IRR.
On the Solarbe Test award ceremony held in early March, Trina Solar’s Vertex module claimed the winner of bifacial TOPCon module after going through rigorous power generation performance tests.
