Tongwei to start producing 15 GW solar wafer in 2022 H1

Polysilicon supplier and solar cell maker Tongwei announced today that the 15 GW pull-rod and 15 GW slicing projects invested and built by the company in cooperation with Trina Solar are currently advancing as planned, including 2 GW of pull-rod project which started this year and the other 13 GW, which will be started in the first half of 2022.


The 15 GW slicing project was divided into two phases, of which the first 7.5 GW were started this year and the rest will be started in the first half of 2022.

The company also said on last Monday that it currently has a high-purity crystalline silicon production capacity of 180,000 tons. The 50,000 tons of phase II in Baotou City which under construction will be put into operation in 2022.
