Chinese team brings flexible perovskite photovoltaic module efficiency to 20.2%

The scientific team from the Institute of New Energy Technology of Jinan University has made a breakthrough in the research of large-area polymer substrate flexible perovskite photovoltaic modules, bringing the efficiency based on trans structure to 20.20% (12.11 cm2) and the aperture area efficiency to 19.21% (12.74 cm2), which are the highest conversion efficiency records so far. The samples showed excellent stability in the maximum power point tracking test.

The research was jointly conducted by Professor Mai Yaohua, associate researcher Liu Chong and Wu Shaohang and doctoral student Zhang Cuiling. The achievements have been tested and certified by the National PV Industry Measurement and Testing Center.

The team led by Professor Mai Yaohua has long been committed to solving the key problems of perovskite solar cell technology facing industrialization. In this October, the team made a major breakthrough in the research of large-area organic/inorganic hybrid perovskite photovoltaic modules, of which the conversion efficiency reached 21.37% (aperture area efficiency, 12.84 cm2), and the MPPT efficiency reached 20.56%.
