China’s southwest Yunnan Provincial Development and Reform Commission released the Notice on Resolutely Doing a Good Job in the Related Work of Double Control of Energy Consumption on September 11, which made requirements on the production capacity of steel, cement, industrial silicon, coal power and other six industries from September to December.
Among them, the industrial silicon industry should strengthen its production control, to ensure that the average monthly output of industrial silicon enterprises from September to December is not higher than 10% of the output of August (that is, reduce the output by 90%).
According to data of industry body Chinese Nonferrous Metals Industry Association Silicon Branch, Yunnan is the second largest industrial silicon producing area in China, and its output accounts for about 21% in the first three quarters of 2020, with a total domestic industrial silicon output of 1.423 million tons.
